and performers

What if there was another way?

You don’t have to constantly shape yourself around outside expectations and validation. To abandon yourself in order to keep up. To “fix” your body rather than live embodied. To believe that rest must be earned. To “fake it till you make it.” Over time, these patterns can make it difficult to see yourself clearly and express yourself authentically.

A different way of moving

Your music career doesn’t have to come at the expense of your well-being. You’re allowed to move at a pace that honors your body and creative rhythm, expressing yourself from a more grounded and embodied place.

A practice for you

Place one hand on your belly
Lay the other hand on your heart
Relax your shoulders and soften your eyes
Breathe in, and as you breathe out
Gently hum…

Mat to the Mic

Rooted In Your Rhythm

Mat to the Mic prioritizes wellbeing through practices rooted in self-care and embodiment. The program helps cultivate a more grounded, balanced, and embodied life on and off the stage.

From one artist to another

I hear you, I see you,
I feel you.

I understand what it takes to forge a career in music. I’ve walked this path too — the doubts, the hurdles, and the constant balancing act between ambition, livelihood, and wellbeing.

I believe that we’re capable of being both bold and balanced—rooted in our bodies, clear in our voices, and unwavering in our artistry.

Your unique path can unfold organically in your own timing, guiding you forward as an artist and a woman boldly charting her own course and sharing a story only she can tell.

Your body carries the wisdom and the way.

The journey home begins within.

“My sessions with Shea have left me feeling lighter in body and mind.”

Shea shares a wealth of knowledge in our sessions while catering to my specific goals and fostering a welcoming and calm environment. I have learned a lot from just a few sessions that will help my voice, music career, and day-to-day life. My sessions with Shea have left me feeling lighter in body and mind. I look forward to continuing to work with Shea!”

Let’s begin

Center of the heart

Welcome to the start of your journey!

INTRODUCTION + INTENTION

Our first session explores where you are in your artistic journey and creative ambitions while identifying what balance and support might look like for you in this season of your life and creativity.

what we’ll learn

FOUNDATION + STABILITY

it was when I stopped searching for home within others
and lifted the foundations of home within myself
i found there were no roots more intimate
than those between a mind and body
that have decided to be whole.

― Rupi Kaur

what we’ll learn

CREATIVITY + EMOTION

My persuasion can build a nation.
Endless power with our love we can devour.
You'll do anything for me.

―  Beyoncé

what we’ll learn

POWER + CONFIDENCE

Reclaiming my time.
Reclaiming my time.
Reclaiming my time.

―  U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters

WHAT we’ll learn

COMPASSION + CONNECTION

Remember the love. . . .
Don’t play the pain and betrayal,

to restore the love.

― Viola Davis

What we’ll learn

COMMUNICATION + EXPRESSION

You cannot remain a war
between what you want to say
(who you really are)
and
what you should say
(who you pretend to be)
your mouth was not designed to eat itself.

― Nayyirah Waheed

what we’ll learn

INTUITION + PERCEPTION

Ritual is about joining vision and
practicality, heaven and earth,
samsara, and nirvana. When things
are properly understood, one’s whole
life is like a ritual or a ceremony.

― Pema Chödrön

what we’ll learn

INTEGRATION + CELEBRATION

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
